Pavel Šporcl is a Czech violinist born on April 25, 1973, in České Budějovice. He studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Václav Snítil and continued his training in the United States with Itzhak Perlman and Dorothy DeLay. Recognized for his unorthodox presence, Šporcl frequently performs wearing a "pirate" headscarf and uses a unique blue violin built by Jan Špidlen. He achieved significant commercial success with his 2008 album Gypsy Way, which explored Romani musical traditions. His discography also includes the 2012 pop-crossover project Sporcelain and the 2014 album Gipsy Fire. In 2013, he released Dvorák: Chamber Works. Šporcl has performed with major international ensembles, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Paris. In 2015, he was awarded the state Medal of Merit for his contributions to the arts.
