Jinku is an alternative electronic producer and DJ from Nairobi, Kenya who has been at the forefront of the NuNairobi movement. He is most well known as a founding member of the music collective East African Wave, which came onto the scene in 2015.
Jinku's style is a fusion of today's contemporary music underpinned by strong African percussion. His music is an amalgamation of many genres told through an African lens. He aims to inspire African producers to be bold and fearless in translating their stories to the world.
Jinku has curated remixes from well-known world music acts such as Branko, Frank Yamma, Mabiisi, Makadem and Ami Faku.
Jinku has released music through respected labels such as Man Recordings, On The Corner Records, Banana Hill and Lump Records. His records have received support from Worldwide FM, Boiler Room and DJ Mag. In 2016 he was named as one of the top 25 artists to know in the world by Fader Magazine.
