Life is one big yeet and then we die
Hiii! I’m SAMPAULE (pronounced “Sample”). I’m a Queer Afrikaans rapper and producer from Kimberley, South Africa (I moved to Capetown though, yaaaayyy).
I give my perspective on Afrikaans culture and identity, as someone who’s experienced imposter syndrome in their own culture.
I decided to pursue music as a career after performing at my high school talent show. I was kinda seen as a loser, but the moment I got on that stage and started rapping, everyone went wild. They were so loud, I couldn’t hear myself over the speakers. I don’t think anyone expected that from the awkward-nerdy kid. It was something straight out of a movie and I’ve had a fire inside me ever since.
I want to create a safe space for people like me: the misfits, rejects and broken hearted. I also want to make ear worms for the rest of the public to make them aware and sympathetic to the issues of mental health and discrimination that my friends and I face.
