James L. Tyler better known by his stage name Dough the Freshkid (DTFK) was born in Gary Indiana but raised in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, CA. While most rappers start their career by looking for a record deal, DTFK decided to start his independent label Every Penny Count (EPC). In 2009, DTFK began building EPC Music Group from the ground up.
DTFK has shared the stage with many mainstream artists including but not limited to DJ Quik, PacDiv, The Kool Kids, Dom Kennedy, DMX, Outkast, Wyclef, E40, Wu-Tang Clan, Twista, Too Short, Snoop Dogg, Mack 10, The Dogg Pound, Juvenile, 2 Chains, Jadakiss, Young Ma, The Alkaholiks, and Dave East. All in all DTFK is on a meteoric rise. His viral numbers are steadily increasing with huge amounts of followers and subscribers from YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. His music videos are acknowledged by several websites and blogs including, Hip Hop Lead, ItsBizkit , Genius.com, Hip Hop Weekly, All Hip Hop.com, Thisis50, WorldStar Hip Hop, The Source, HHS87, and VladTV.
Currently, DTFK has released his latest project "Black Rome" on November 22, 2018. This project is available at all major music retailers. Prior to this release, DTFK released "Arlington Avenue: The Roaring Sixties" on January 2017. According to management, DTFK is preparing and laying out the blue print to what he considers another classic album “Tal’s Cafe” which released on Wednesday June 10, 2020!
