Calacote is not just another urban singer. He is not interested in pretending to be the man with the most possessions or money; rather, his ambition is focused on his art, the words he uses, and how he delivers them through his music. Calacote—pronounced as it's spelled in Spanish—adopted his name by taking up the French expression "avoir la cote," which translates to "to be popular." Having spent his youth between the East Coast of the United States and Santiago de los Caballeros, as well as being baptized in France where he has also extensively traveled, his sound is undeniably Dominican while also being completely international. After two years as an independent artist, he took a decisive step; knowing little about it, Calacote moved to Miami to try his luck in 2020. He is an artist who, above all, is dedicated to elevating urban music to new heights.
