Betagarri, a Basque musical group from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, formed in late 1992. The initial members, Iñaki Ortiz de Villalba, Aitor Ruiz de Arbulo, and Gonzalo Zaldibar, began their musical journey after Zaldibar won an electric guitar in a television contest. Their first album, Maketa, released in 1994, followed by the album Betagarri in 1997 via Mil A Gritos Records. Follow-up releases included Arren Erro Zaharra (1998), which featured the singles "Arren Erro Zaharra" and "Verde". Betagarri's discography expanded with the albums Freaky Festa (2000), Remix (2001), Arnasa Hartu (2002), and the live recording Zuzenena (2004). In 2012, the group released its eleventh album, Zorion Argiak. The band has toured throughout Europe, Japan, the United States, and Argentina. The group also recorded "Garenaren Jostun" for Araba Euskaraz in 2007 and the official song for Korrika in 2009. Betagarri became inactive in 2017 following a concert at the Hatortxu Rock festival.
