Gryphon Trio, a Canadian classical ensemble formed in 1993 by Annalee Patipatanakoon, Roman Borys, and Jamie Parker of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, emerged from a shared academic background in piano trio performance. Their debut recording, Haydn's Four Piano Trios - Quatre Trios, released in 1996 through Analekta, established their reputation for interpreting classical repertoire. The trio received two Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year in 2004 for Canadian Premieres and in 2011 for Beethoven's Piano Trios, Op. 70, No. 1 “Ghost”, and has commissioned over 75 contemporary works, and toured extensively across Canada, the United States, and Europe. They also released Broken Hearts & Madmen in 2011.
