Mot (못) is a South Korean rock band formed in 1996, originally as a one-man project by Eaeon. The band's name is derived from the Korean word for "pond" (연못). Eaeon sought like-minded musicians through an online post in 2001, leading to the addition of guitarist Z.EE, transforming Mot into a duo. Influenced by bands like Portishead, Radiohead, and Smashing Pumpkins, Mot's music blends elements of rock, jazz, electronica, and trip hop. Their debut album Non-Linear (비선형), released in 2004, was critically acclaimed and ranked 59th in Kyunghyang Shinmun’s Top 100 Korean albums. The band gained further recognition by winning Rookie of the Year at the 2005 Korean Music Awards. Mot's second album Strange Season (이상한 계절) in 2007, which earned Best Modern Rock Album at the 2008 Korean Music Awards, marked their rise in the modern rock scene. However, the band went on hiatus after Eaeon developed vocal cord nodules and Z.EE left in 2008. In 2015, session musicians from Eaeon’s solo projects—Cho Namyeol, Yoo Woongryeol, Song Inseob, and Lee Hayoon—joined Mot, reviving the band. They returned with the album Ashcraft (재의 기술) in 2016, praised for its melancholic yet resilient tone.
