Ulrich Schröder, known professionally as Praful, was born on January 1, 1964, in Germany. He began his musical journey at a young age, learning the recorder, flute, and electronic organ. In 1987, he moved to the Netherlands to study jazz saxophone and flute. After graduating, Schröder spent six months in India, adopting the spiritual name 'Praful.' He then traveled to Brazil, incorporating Samba influences into his music. Upon returning to Amsterdam, he worked with Brazilian and Latin groups. In 1999, Schröder joined Project 2000, a drum and bass group that won the Dutch Heineken Cross Over Music Award. He released his first solo album, Touched by Love, the same year. In 2003, Praful released One Day Deep, which included the single "Sigh", which stayed on the Billboard charts for over 70 weeks.
