The band offers a true fusion of Peruvian Chicha from the 60s, 70s progressive rock, Afro-Peruvian music such as Lando and Festejo, and beautiful Andean melodies. With this explosive, baroque and surprising cocktail, one can experience the mix of Rock with Cumbia, Dominican Merengue with Amazonian rhythms and Salsa with Saya.
Through these sonic experiments around Andean, Afro-descendant and Amazonian folklores, Chicharron follows in the footsteps of a movement which revalorize Chicha and Cumbia, initiated in the early 2000s by groups such as Chicha Libre, Chico Trujillo and Juana Fé.
The sounds are modern and rely on the powerful tones of drums, electric guitar, and Fender Rhodes bass. On this solid foundation, vintage textures of analog organs come into play, accompanied by the dance of Latin percussion and the depth of traditional instruments (cajón, charango, zampoña, quijada, etc.). To top it all off, the joyful choirs of the musicians strongly support the passionate and unique voices of the two main singers, Hiram Muñoz and Antonin Cognet.
