Lisa Shaw was born in 1969 in Toronto, Ontario. She is a Canadian singer specializing in contemporary R&B and soul music. In 1993, while vacationing in New York, Shaw became captivated by the local club scene and decided to stay, leading to collaborations with prominent house producers starting in 1995. Her breakthrough came with the 2000 single "Always", which received praise from Madonna in Rolling Stone. Shaw's debut solo album, Cherry, was released in 2005, followed by Free in 2009. She frequently collaborated with producer Miguel Migs and released several EPs, including All Night High (2008) and Like I Want To (2009). Throughout her career, Shaw has worked with various artists, including Q-Burns Abstract Message, Scuba, and Ethan White.
