Musical style and public image[edit]
Musical style and influences[edit]
The main influences for the composition of Maos' songs are his experiences throughout his life, also to his evolution as an artist.18 For his songs the artist implemented Jamaican sounds, as well as Caribbean sounds and Latin pop, not leaving aside his urban style.7475
Critics have contrasted Maos' musical style from the first wave of internationally popular reggaeton led by Daddy Yankee. 76 He generally sings over his beats although he also often raps and favors a more melodic, pop-influenced style. 76 He frequently works with producer Eber Otero ¨Fiffty Five¨ and Starlyn Lechuga ¨Jar Beats¨, whom he often names in his songs. He has also said that he has been inspired by the sounds of his homeland such as Cumbia, Porro, Vallenato and the native sounds of some parts of the world.
Although he cites J Balvin as his biggest musical inspiration, Maos' earliest influences were rock bands such as Metallica and Linkin Park, as well as salsa legend Hector Lavoe. He also refrains from singing about violent themes or those that incite discord, stating that these themes only awaken war and discord and he wants to give a positive example to his followers, which is why MAOS differentiates himself by giving another meaning to what people think of reggaeton. Despite having a good command of English, Maos says that his songs will be in Spanish and highlights the talent of Spanish-speaking artists, he says that Latin America is a continent rich in musical talent and with a diversity of sounds and genres that are distinguished worldwide, so he wants to take advantage of this and put it into practice in their songs in order to distinguish himself.
Public image and lyrics[edit]
Maos can be described as a nice guy, with a mischievous side who takes good care of his image. We can see how he interacts with his fans on his social networks, such as Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, Twitter and he claims that these platforms are essential in his music career and his path to success.

Maos explains that he has always tried to compose lyrics that all kinds of people can listen to, such as old and young, based on real life events that have happened in his life or that other people have lived, he says that this helps him connect more with his fans and their feelings and always tries to make his compositions as real as possible.
On the subject of machismo (misogyny) in reggaeton, Maos emphasizes: "I have a mother, a sister and a daughter that someday when she has the chance to listen to my songs she will realize that I highlight the value and capabilities of women. What we do is to change the misconception that reggaeton is sexist. On the contrary, women are fighters and the most important thing is that they are our biggest fans, and they are the ones who inspire us in our songs. "85
Maos has six tattoos on his body,19 among them his daughter's name "Manuela", his parents' initials and one that says "One Love", which he explains that ¨it makes reference to the fact that we are all connected to love and if we all act according to love, we could change the world¨ and is also dedicated to his fans, who support him, even if they do not know him in person.75 His style of music has been influenced by artists such as Bob Marley, Dread Mar I, J Balvin, Toto La Momposina, Daddy Yankee, Cristian Castro, although he confirms that ¨he is a fan of all compositions made with love¨.
Personal life[edit]
The artist's personal life is reserved for him, however, in one of his videos (cover Hecha pa mi) we could see one of the most important moments of his life, which was the marriage proposal to his wife and we saw that this couple has 2 children.
He has not had any problems with the law nor has he been involved in scandals, so we can deduce that Maos is a very calm person and knows how to take care of his image. On the other hand, he affirms that he does not agree with racism nor with the bad treatment between people, he believes that everything in life can be solved with dialogue no matter the social stratum or skin color, he affirms that we are all equal.
Maos was part of a non-profit foundation (Regala Sonrisas), which is responsible for making happy the neediest children in his town, giving them the opportunity to attend their schools, giving books, toys, clothes, food and often bringing fun games to change their routine and teach them that whoever dreams of what he wants to be, can achieve it.
