Alternative Nouveue (Alt-Nuvo) - my authentic kind of alternative music.
Alt-Nuvo (short for Alternative Nouveau) is a new wave of indie-alternative music born in the 2010s in the bedroom studio of young musician and soundtrack producer Denis Tombauceff.
The name itself is a conceptual reference — echoing Nu-Metal, the last truly "novelty" genre that acted as a sonic vacuum cleaner, absorbing elements of grunge, industrial, new wave, and more, and giving us acts like Linkin Park, Korn, and Limp Bizkit.
After that, music at large shifted into the era of Foreverism — a time where most releases began recycling past aesthetics and chasing attention through marketing rather than essence. In contrast, Alt-Nuvo remained focused on developing authentic emotional substance. With each new release, it slowly builds a loyal audience — standing as a rare example of sincere, evolving expression in an age of algorithmic and AI-generated music uniformity.
Denis was not only inspired by nu-metal, but also by the distinct and fearless Finnish music of the early 2000s — a sound that carved out its own space in global culture. Artists like The Rasmus, Husky Rescue, Bomfunk MC's, Poets of the Fall, Nightwish, and Children of Bodom deeply shaped the sonic DNA of Alt-Nuvo. This blend of emotional alternative rock, electronic textures, and compositional detail pushed the project away from generic indie and toward a more complex, embodied identity — full of captivating elements that still manage to speak through the music and create that rare emotional bond between artist and listener.
Tracks by Alt-Nuvo contain open references to Pretty Lights’ early work, The Glitch Mob's debut, AFI’s "December Underground", various Placebo albums, as well as the haunting compositions of Akira Yamaoka, and even the emotional aggression of Bring Me The Horizon, Eden Maine, and the immersive atmospheres of Silent Hill and Dark Souls.
Each Alt-Nuvo track becomes a portal into a vivid, deeply personal nostalgia — one that taps into the best moments of your life, wrapped in resonances that are both familiar and new.
Music, after all, is a universal structure — something that would feel harmonious to any being in the universe regardless of its sensory system. And Alt-Nuvo is a project born from that very principle. Even the name — short, sharp, and deliberate, like Nu-Metal — hints at something cosmic, subconscious, and richly emotional. It’s no coincidence the artist behind it is, by education and calling, a radio physicist.
Alt-Nuvo originally existed as a part of a larger musical organism. But over time, as the music industry evolved — and so did Denis — it made sense to let each branch breathe. The more electronic works became Waveport, while the heavy and noise-influenced material became Noiseport, both under the umbrella of Westwave Records / Westwave Institute of Music.
Today, all three serve not only the listener’s pleasure but also an educational purpose — to awaken taste, emotional literacy, and new forms of musical storytelling. Alt-Nuvo is intimate and easy to connect with, yet layered and crafted for those who truly feel.
