She first appeared on the national stage as a member of the Belgian choir Almakalia in 2019, before returning to the spotlight in 2021 when she competed in the ninth season of The Voice Belgium and finished as runner‑up behind Jérémie Makiese. After the show, she worked as a backing vocalist for artists such as Ben'do and Typh Barrow. In 2023 she released her debut single "Let You Go" and her first EP I'll Be Okay, adopting the stage name Essyla, and issued the single "Not My Kind of Dude" . On 19 February 2026, RTBF announced Essyla would represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna with "Dancing on the Ice", a song that earned her tenth place in the first semi‑final with 91 points and a twenty‑first place finish in the grand final.
