Astin Gilles is a Hip-Hop artist from the southwest region of Florida, specifically the city of Naples. He picked up his first musical influences from his parents’ collection of Haitian music such as King Posse, Original Rap Staff, and Chachou Boys. Combining those influences with that of American artists Like Outcast, UGK, Young Thug, Future, Drake,Three Six Mafia, Webbie & Boosie you end up with a medley of melodic Caribbean influenced hooks and a flow that is familiar to the ears which will grab your attention right away.
His music is conscious because it connects with the emotional side of humans, the mood switches from happy to sad to downright demonic, but his writing is what stands out the most, needless to say he’s a great poet. When asked what it is that motivates him, he simply stated that he “doesn’t wish to be just another name in the graveyard, He wants to live forever like Bob Marley & Michael Jackson”.
